So you want some juice?

A few years ago I was discovered the early stirrings of the Juicing Craze in NYC. Compelled to know more and find another wellness alternative to vitamin powders, I promptly signed up for a three day cleanse and subsequently ordered a high speed extraction juicer featured on Amazon.

Much like the bell curve Juice Bar popularity in NYC, my interest waned and I abandoned my juicer once the weather turned cooler. Life began to revolve around soups…essentially, thicker juices! Then, some cool yoga friends indulged my gadget fix by introducing me to a better juicer, one that could not only crush wheatgrass but make its own butters, and even pasta!

Sold, again. I gave my current juicer to a dear friend who was just starting to explore the juice world and once again, Amazon delivered the [new] dream.

Not a stranger to my own patterns, I once again noticed that my juice desires fell off as I began to hibernate for the winter months, despite this new juicer’s enhanced features. Luckily, right before the holidays, I was re-inspired to juice, this time by Kris Carr. After reading her book, Crazy, Sexy Diet I took a look at when, how and what I was consuming and decided it was time to make room for juice once again. Having a homemade green juice on a daily basis since, I found my tastes shifting to actually crave green juice! It is easy to make, no matter what varsity letter your juicer holds. The most fantastic part about juicing is that you can experiment with flavors and combinations, thus allowing truly endless possibilities.

Since 2012 kicked off, my green juice goes like this:

[All Items are Organic, if possible!]

  • Four or Five Large Kale Leaves
  • Half a Cucumber
  • One Green Apple
  • Three to Five Celery Stalks
  • Squeeze of Lime, it brightens all the flavors

Enjoy!
